The deputy head teacher of a Cardiff secondary school has been charged with three offences of voyeurism within a house.

Gareth Williams, 47, has been suspended from Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Glantaf in Llandaff North.

Mr Williams, of Cardiff, was arrested last Thursday and appeared at Cardiff magistrates' court last Saturday. He was remanded in custody.

Parents of children at the school have been sent a letter by head Alun Davies.

The letter reads: "I need to advise you that the deputy head teacher Gareth Williams has been charged with criminal offences.

"As a result he has been suspended from duties with immediate effect.

"Our pupils' welfare is our main priority and we are co-operating with South Wales Police in any way we can with their inquiries. We fully appreciate this is concerning for everyone involved at the school and we will keep you updated at every appropriate opportunity.

"However, we ask for your understanding that this is an ongoing police investigation so information may be limited at certain times."

The school has around 1,500 pupils.
