A man is being assessed after an incident forced police to close a main road in Cardiff for several hours.

Negotiators were used to talk to the 48-year-old pedestrian on a bridge over the River Taff.

It led to the closure of the A48 Western Avenue on Tuesday evening until the man was led to safety.

South Wales Police said he was taken to hospital and the road was reopened.
