No charges follow Gwent Police summer riot arrests

Six men who were arrested by Gwent Police in August in connection with the summer riots will not be charged.

All had been on police bail on suspicion of encouraging public disorder following the disturbances that hit cities in England.

The force said following advice from the Crown Prosecution Service no further action would be taken.

Two other men arrested by the force had already been released - one with a caution.

Police in Wales made around 15 arrests for allegedly encouraging public order offences, mostly through social media sites.

At least 250 police officers from Wales were sent to London to help tackle the riots there.

Rioting also broke out in other English cities including Manchester, Birmingham and Bristol.
