Bridgend car crash kills woman, 34, and injures girls

A 34-year-old woman has died and two girls aged 14 and two have been injured in a car crash.

South Wales Police said they were in a green BMW 325 on the A4064 Brynmenyn to Llangeinor road in Bridgend at 10:10 GMT on Tuesday.

It was the only vehicle involved in the crash, and the road was closed for five hours for police forensic work.

Police said a family liaison officer was supporting the next of kin and the coroner has been informed.

The woman, who lived locally, was pronounced dead at the scene while the two girls were taken to the Princess of Wales Hospital in Bridgend.

Insp Rob Gwynne-Thomas, of the South Wales Police roads policing unit, said the road was busy at the time of the collision.

"We would like to speak to any person who witnessed the collision or who stopped to provide assistance," he said.

"We also want to hear from anyone who may have seen the vehicle being driven prior to the collision and who have not yet given their details to police.
