Cardiff and Newport rail service delay after bridge hit

Main line train services between Cardiff and Newport were disrupted for a short period when a vehicle struck a road bridge.

An engineer was called to the bridge on Penarth Road, Cardiff, after the incident at 10:00 GMT on Saturday.

Services were allowed to resume 50 minutes later after the condition of the bridge was checked.

Arriva Trains Wales said Valley Line trains were not affected by the incident.
