A driver who died following a crash with a parked car has been named as Ian Marshall, 41, from St Mellons, Cardiff.
South Wales Police say he was driving a silver Ford Mondeo estate when the vehicle hit a car parked in Aberdore Road, Gabalfa, early on Sunday.
His family have paid tribute to a "loving son, father, grandfather, and husband".
Police have appealed for anyone with information about the crash, at about 0330 GMT, to come forward.
Mr Marshall was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, where he was pronounced dead.
The crash happened at about 0330 GMT.
The road was closed for around two-and-a-half hours while an initial investigation was carried out.
In a statement issued via South Wales Police, his family said: "He was loved by everyone who knew him.
"He loved fishing and being with his family and friends.
"Ian was the life and soul of the party and he will never be forgotten."
Police would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, stopped to provide help or who may have seen the vehicle being driven prior to the crash and have not yet given their details.
