Aberdare £100k cannabis factory find

A "sophisticated" cannabis factory has been found at a house near an infants school in south Wales, say police.

Four men and a woman aged in their 40s were arrested after officers discovered 117 plants worth about £100,000 in Aberdare, Rhondda Cynon Taf.

All four have been remanded in custody charged with conspiracy to produce cannabis.

Sgt Damien McKeon described the find as "one of the most sophisticated cannabis factories" he had seen in a house.

Officers found reflective foil all over the walls, powerful halogen lamps hanging from the ceiling, a large number of fans on the walls, and water reservoirs under the floor with piping.

All the plants and equipment have been removed and engineers have disconnected the illegal electricity supply, said police.

Police are appealing for anyone with information or suspicions about a property to call South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
