North Wales Police has said officers are carrying out patrols after a nine-year-old boy was approached by two men.

It happened as the schoolboy walked along Plas Newydd, Deganwy, at 08:50 GMT on Monday.

Police said two men in a silver car stopped and asked the boy to get into the car, but he ignored them and reported it once at school.

On Tuesday, the force said it had deployed extra "high vis patrols" around Deganwy School.

It stressed there was no attempt to physically get hold of the boy or follow him.

Insp Kelly Isaacs said: "This incident will understandably be of significant concern to the local community and particularly parents and other local schools.

"Enquiries are under way to establish the identity of the men and car and the pupil is being further interviewed by specialist officers to obtain a full description of the men."
