Three kayakers have been airlifted to safety after getting into difficulties off Holy Island, Anglesey.

Two lifeboats, a land-based coastguard team and the rescue helicopter from RAF Valley were called in after the alert near Rhoscolyn at around midday.

Holyhead coastguard said the Trearddur Bay RNLI inshore lifeboat found the three holding on to their kayaks.

The rescue helicopter later flew the three to Ysbyty Gwynedd hospital in Bangor.
