Three suspected poachers have been accused of netting fish illegally in the Menai Strait near Caernarfon, Gwynedd.

The three local men, aged 25, 30 and 44, were apprehended during a midnight raid on Thursday.

Officers from Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and North Wales Police were alerted by a tip-off.

NRW said netting on the Menai Strait was banned to protect valuable fish stocks which breed further upstream.

Fish were seized during the raid.

Suspected poaching can be reported on 0800 807060.
