Mountain rescue volunteers in Snowdonia helped a pair of stranded walkers to safety overnight after their shouts for help were overheard by campers.

Llanberis Mountain Rescue responded to the callout at an area known as Elephant Rock, near Llyn Gwynant, Nant Gwynant, on Sunday at 02:30 BST.

It is understood the couple, aged in their 40s, failed to make it to their car at Watkin path before it went dark.

Rescuers advised walkers to allow enough time for their journeys.
