Scout leader, 51, found dead in Snowdonia

A Scout leader has been found dead after an overnight search in Snowdonia.

The 51-year-old man's body was discovered at 1000 GMT on land near Beddgelert, Gwynedd, by the Sea King helicopter from RAF Valley in Anglesey.

The search included helicopter had previously spent three hours searching for him in the darkness after being scrambled in the early hours.

Aberglaslyn mountain rescue team were also involved in the search.

A police spokeswoman said: "We understand that the man was out walking alone and police were called yesterday evening after he failed to return to his home in Pwllheli.

"Mountain rescue were alerted and carried out a search last night and started again this morning."

Fifteen members of the Aberglaslyn team searched for him in cold but clear conditions.
