A man who stored about 4,000 tonnes of illegal waste which led to a large fire in Flintshire has been banned from being a company director for seven years.

Paul Baison, 64, a director of Lancashire Fuels 4U, also received an 11-month suspended jail sentence at Mold Crown Court.

The fire happened on 20 May 2014 at River Lane Industrial Estate, Saltney.

It took more than a week to fully extinguish.

Judge Rhys Rowlands said officials were concerned "a very real fire risk" was presented by the waste.

"Sadly that proved to be right," he said.
