Building works at a secondary school have forced the closure of a nearby leisure centre for four weeks.

St Asaph Leisure Centre will be shut while contractors at Ysgol Glan Clwyd replace boilers and the heating plant.

Denbighshire council said the closeness of the two sites meant it would not be safe to open the leisure centre while that work was going on.

The all-weather pitch, cardio room and main hall reopen on 19 August, followed by the whole centre two weeks later.

A spokesman said people with Denbighshire Leisure memberships could use all other leisure centres in the county.
