Road diversions for gas leak repairs in Wrexham

Road closures in Wrexham following gas leak

There could be disruption in Wrexham town centre on Tuesday as diversions have been put in place for repair work on a major route following a gas leak.

Wales and West Utilities said it was "in the process of replacing the damaged section of pipe" on the corner of Watery Road and Bradley Road.

The issue caused big delays and frustration for motorists on Monday.

The council said it would open Bradley Road from Ruthin Road to the junction at Bellevue Road from Tuesday morning.

Traffic lights on Croesnewydd Road, which serves Wrexham Maelor Hospital, have been removed and Wrexham council said manual signals would be in place for rush hour traffic on Tuesday.

"We are working with Wales and West Utilities to ensure the works are completed promptly and ask the public to bear with us whilst they continue with this major repair," a council statement said.

"We apologise for the inconvenience caused."

Repair works are expected to last until Thursday.
