Man critically injured after stabbing in Prestatyn

A man is in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being stabbed in a residential area in Denbighshire.

The man was found with serious injuries in Lon Ceiriog, Prestatyn, on Monday at 13:45 GMT.

He was taken to Ysbyty Glan Clwyd hospital then transferred to a major injuries unit at hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.

Detectives said they believed he and the assailant were known to each other.

North Wales Police's crime scene investigators were at the street on Tuesday, while house-to-house inquiries were continuing.

Senior investigating officer Det Ch Insp Jason Devonport said: "Officers, a police helicopter and members of the dog section were called to the location to assist in the search for the individual responsible.

"Extensive inquiries are on-going."

High visibility patrols were also being undertaken in the area to reassure the community.
