A solar farm large enough to power the equivalent of 700 homes a year has been opened by Wrexham council.

The farm at Legacy is said to be the first in Wales to be owned and run by a local authority. It has 8,800 panels over 43 acres (17.4 hectares) of land.

Work started on the British Gas-installed site in January and it was completed in May.

Wrexham has already installed 6,000 solar panels on its housing stock.
