Call to help stop arson attacks in Gwesyllt, Wrexham

Residents in Wrexham are being urged to help stop fires being started deliberately by reporting offenders to the police.

Crews have been called to six incidents in four days in the Gwesyllt area and all have been late at night or during the early hours of the morning.

Wheelie bins, fencing, trees and wooden pallets have all been targeted.

Kevin Jones, from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said deliberate fires put pressure on resources.

He added: "This type of antisocial behaviour is completely unacceptable and we're appealing to members of the community to report these deliberate firestarters.

"Deliberate fires place tremendous pressure on resources, with our crews tied up for a considerable length of time trying to bring them under control which prevents them from attending other life threatening incidents."
