The mother of a motorist who died in a road crash has paid tribute to her "best friend in the world".

Carer Danielle Wrighton, 22, of Dyffryn Ardudwy, Gwynedd, died in a crash with a van at Llandegla, Denbighshire, last month.

Her mother, Iona, said: "She was adored by everyone who knew her," adding that she would be "greatly missed".

Ms Wrighton was driving a Ford Focus near a roundabout at the junction of the A5104 and A542 on 29 December.

She died at the scene and a female passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The Tesco delivery van driver suffered minor injuries.

Speaking on behalf of the family, her mother, Iona said: "Dani loved her family and friends and loved life.

"She was adored by everyone who knew her.

"She was vivacious and funny and her smile would light up the room.

"She was my best friend in the world."

Her funeral is on Saturday.

Ms Wrighton's mother added that her daughter was "very protective" of her two older brothers Haydn and Sion.

She also adored her father George, the family said, as well as her "precious" nieces and nephews and Nain.

The family said she would be "greatly missed by all who knew her".
