Tributes have been paid to a woman who died when a car and van crashed near Llandegla in Denbighshire on Sunday.

Danielle Wrighton, of Dyffryn Ardudwy, Gwynedd, was driving a Ford Focus near a roundabout at the junction of the A5104 and A542 at about 12:30 GMT when it was involved in a collision.

The 22-year-old carer died at the scene and a female passenger was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

The Tesco delivery van driver suffered minor injuries.

Miss Wrighton's 22-year-old friend who was in the car at the time remains in hospital in Stoke-on-Trent with serious but not life threatening injuries.

North Wales Police have asked witnesses to call 101.

Eryl Jones-Williams, Gwynedd councillor for Dyffryn Ardudwy, said: "Danielle worked as a carer to make sure that the elderly and disabled who needed assistance were cared for, and that showed what kind of young lady she was.

"Caring is the only growth industry in this area, and the loss of someone so young is devastating.

"I have not spoken to Danielle's family, but I am sure that they know that the thoughts of the whole community are with them at this time."
