Tributes have been paid to a 16-year-old girl who died after a crash between a car and a cattle lorry in Flintshire.

Sarah Jepson, from Mold, died in hospital following the collision on the A5104 at Penymynydd around 18:20 GMT on Friday.

Her mother described her as a "kind, caring, loving" teenager.

Police have appealed for witnesses to the crash which involved a lorry and a Peugeot 206, seriously injuring the car's three occupants.

Witnesses should call 101, quoting reference P180604.

In a statement, the teenager's family said: "Sarah was taken from us so tragically and there is nothing that can be said to comfort us at this time of loss."

Her mother Jacqui added: "Sarah was so full of life. She was an intelligent, insightful teenager.

"She was so kind, caring, loving and an absolute pleasure to be around.

"Sarah was an adventurist. She loved sports and was an excellent swimmer.

"She had such a good sense of humour and was a fantastic artist."

The family said she had recently started A-levels at Deeside College and "had such aspirations for her future".

Police said her mother and grandparents were "completely devastated".
