BT 999 customers back on line after fault in Wrexham area

Thousands of BT customers in the Wrexham area whose 999 calls were affected by a fault on its landline service have had their services restored.

BT said there had been a "hardware failure" which affected customers in Caergwrle, Wrexham and Pontybodkin.

BT said all customers were reconnected by 17:00 GMT on Wednesday.

A spokesperson said they were looking into the cause of the fault at the Wrexham exchange.

Residents were advised to use mobile phones if they needed to make an emergency call while the fault was corrected.

North Wales Police said there had been no reported problems so far as a result of the fault.
