Wrexham council has approved a £4.3m refurbishment of Park Primary School at Llay.

The money - 80% of which was provided by the Welsh Assembly Government, and 20% by the council - will pay for refurbishment of the junior school.

A new extension will be built for the infant and pre-school class and road access will be improved.

The council, which will invite tenders next month, said disruption would be kept to a minimum.

Council architect Su Evans said: "If everything goes according to schedule, works could start as soon as February next year on the car park works.

"Building work could start on the infants block in March and the whole project should be completed by December 2012."
