Police appeal after serious sex assault in Wrexham

Police are appealing for information about a serious sexual assault on a 50-year-old woman in Wrexham.

The victim was on her way to a taxi rank on Abbott Street when she was attacked by a man in his 40s.

She was found in a distressed state in Park Avenue at about 0300 BST on Saturday.

The attacker was white, of medium build with short dark hair and was wearing a black leather jacket. Anyone with information can call 01978 348364.

Det Insp Arwyn Jones said: "This was a particularly nasty and distressing attack and we would appeal to the public to help us to find the offender.

"I would like to reassure the public that incidents like this are extremely rare in the Wrexham area and North Wales Police are appealing to anyone with information, however insignificant they may consider it to be, to contact detectives at Wrexham CID.

"We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the vicinity of Abbott Street or Park Avenue between 11.30pm on Friday 29 October and 4am on 30 October to get in touch."
