Two men die in Builth Wells microlight crash

Two men have died in a microlight crash in mid Wales, police have said.

Emergency services were called after the small aircraft crashed into a field at Cwmbach, Builth Wells, Powys, just before midday on Sunday.

The men from Holmes Chapel, Cheshire, have been named locally as Scott Penlington and Nick Jefferies.

The Independent Air Accidents Investigation Branch attended the scene on Sunday and its investigations are continuing.

A Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson said: "We were called shortly after midday yesterday [Sunday 18 September 2016] to reports of a light aircraft collision in the Cwmbach area of Builth Wells.

"We sent a paramedic in a rapid response car, a crew in an emergency ambulance and an ambulance officer to the scene."

It is understood the recovery of the bodies has begun, but could take some time.
