Two rescued from disused mine shaft near Talybont, Ceredigion
Two people in their 70s have been rescued after getting stuck in a disused mine shaft in Ceredigion, a search and rescue service said.
The cave explorers were helped after getting into difficulty underground at Bwlch Glas Mine, near Talybont, Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said.
Mid and West Wales fire service, along with mountain rescuers and the Mines Rescue Service, were also called out at 17:47 GMT on Saturday.
Ropes were used to free the pair.
The fire service said one man was treated by the Welsh Ambulance Service and was in a "good condition".
It sent crews from Aberystwyth and Machynlleth, along with its urban search and rescue team.
In a statement, Aberdyfi Search and Rescue Team said that as the night wore on, the casualties became recuperated enough to take an active role in their own rescue underground, "and were sufficiently recovered to walk off the hill unassisted once they had reached the surface".
It added that the rescue was over by 01:00 GMT on Sunday.
