A fun run relay to celebrate the Welsh language has started in Machynlleth, Powys.

The Ras yr Iaith (language run) will pass through nine towns including Aberystwyth, Lampeter and Aberaeron before reaching Cardigan.

The idea behind the run is that the Welsh language is symbolically passed on with a relay baton.

Ras yr Iaith follows in the footsteps of similar runs in the Basque country, Brittany and the Republic of Ireland.
