A former hospital in Powys could be demolished to make way for 17 new homes.

Builth Wells hospital was built in 1897 but was replaced last year by a new health centre.

Wales & West Housing said it planned to demolish the old building and redevelop the site for new affordable homes.

The housing association said plans had been submitted and if everything went to plan work could start on the project in the autumn.

Wales & West Housing already manages more than 800 affordable homes in Powys.

The plans for Builth Wells include four one-bedroom flats, nine bungalows and four houses.
