Police have been given more time to question a murder suspect after a man was found dying in a Powys meadow.

Darren John Deakins, 42, died in hospital in Hereford on Monday after being found in Wents Meadow, Presteigne, at 07:00 BST.

A post mortem examination is due to take place on Wednesday while forensic inquiries continue at the scene.

Dyfed-Powys Police have until 06:00 BST on Thursday to question a 19-year-old man arrested on a suspicion of murder.

Det Insp Diane Davies appealed for witnesses to come forward.

"We are still very keen to speak with anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious in the area on Sunday night or who may have been in the area early on Monday morning," she said.

The police force said Mr Deakins' family have ask to be left alone to come to terms with their bereavement.

Anyone with information is asked to call 101.
