Home care firm Radis creating 50 jobs in Welshpool

A home care company setting up in Powys says it plans to create over 50 jobs.

Radis Community Care, which has branches in south Wales and England, will work with Powys council to provide home help in Welshpool and the surrounding area.

Support will be provided to elderly people and vulnerable adults, including those with mental health problems.

The company said its focus in Powys was on supporting people so they could look after themselves in their own homes.

Services include helping people get washed and dressed, shopping, housework and collecting pensions.

Much of the new office's work will be provided through contracts with Powys council but Radis also carries out private work.

Branch manager Lauren Bailey said: "We are a team of local people looking forward to providing reliable, first-class care to people in our community.

"We'll be working in partnership with Powys County Council, other practitioners and providers, and are also able to provide services privately."

More than 20 people have been employed so far, but the company is looking to take on a total of more than 50.

Besides Welshpool, Radis will also provide home help in areas including Llanfair Caereinion, Berriew, Forden and Newtown.

Radis was formed in 1998 in response to what it said was a growing need for community care services for people.
