Powys council launches Welsh medium schools survey
A survey measuring demand for Welsh medium primary school education is being launched by Powys council.
The local authority will send a questionnaire to parents of children born between 1 September, 2007 and 31 August, 2008.
It said the survey, which will start on 1 November, would help it plan for the future.
The council is looking at modernising primary and secondary education in the county.
It has commissioned Swansea-based research company ORS to carry out the work.
Councillor David Jones, who is responsible for schools, said: "The results of this survey will feed into our school modernisation programme and will help us deliver Welsh medium education that meets the needs and wishes of parents of young children in Powys.
"The questionnaire should only take a few minutes to complete and we are urging parents to fill in and return the questionnaire to ensure that their views are taken into account in planning for the future of Welsh medium education in Powys."
Completed questionnaires should be returned to ORS in a provided freepost envelope by Wednesday, 15 December.
