Youth centre at Penrhos in £200,000 makeover

A youth centre in Powys has reopened after a £200,000 makeover.

The building at Penrhos, near Ystradgynlais, now boasts a teaching kitchen, a coffee bar area and a craft and music recording room.

The revamp is the latest in a series of upgrades to youth centres in the county over the last few years at Newtown and Brecon.

The project in Penrhos was paid for with a Welsh Assembly Government grant and match funding from Powys council.

Councillor Gwyn Gwillim, the council board member for youth services, said: "I'm delighted with this new facility. The feedback we have received from young people to date has been excellent."

Young people had a say on the centre's design, décor and facilities, which also boast a multi-use games area, a skate park and playing fields.
