Caerphilly stabbing: Evan Smith jailed for life for attack
A man has been jailed for life for trying to murder a man in the street.
Evan Smith, 43, from Caerphilly, stabbed his 61-year-old victim five times in the town on 15 September.
He admitted attempted murder and possession of an offensive weapon at Swansea Crown Court on Thursday and must serve a minimum of seven years and 60 days.
Smith was also given a one-year concurrent sentence for possession of an offensive weapon.
Det Con Matt Clarke of Gwent Police said: "This was a frightening, unprovoked, violent attack carried out on a busy high street in broad daylight."
