A road safety campaign targeting motorists and passengers not wearing their seatbelts has been launched.

More than 1,200 people were stopped for the offence during a two-week clampdown last March, with fines of £100 issued.

Insp Steve Davies, from South Wales Police road policing unit, said non use of seatbelts was one of the "fatal five" driving offences, after speeding, alcohol, drugs and mobile phone use.

He said Wales' forces were committed to "reducing casualties on the road".
