Family's tribute to 'irreplaceable' teenager after death

The family of a teenager who died after being hit by a car while walking in Caerphilly county say he was "one in a million" and "irreplaceable".

Gerwyn Allan Osborne-Flanagan, 18, from Cefn Hengoed, died following the incident in Hengoed Crescent in the village at about 12:55 BST on Saturday.

The car driver, a 29-year-old local man, was held on suspicion of death by dangerous driving after the collision.

Police said he had been released on police bail pending further inquiries.

Mr Osborne-Flanagan's family released a statement paying tribute to him.

It said: "Gerwyn was one in a million, irreplaceable and his mum and dad are so proud of him.

"All his family and friends are completely heartbroken by this tragedy and will miss him greatly.

"At this time the family would like time and space to grieve."
