Armed officers arrest wanted man in Caernarfon, Gwynedd

A man wanted in connection with alleged offences in the UK and Spain has been arrested by armed police.

North Wales Police said the man, 39, from Merseyside, was arrested in a restaurant in Caernarfon, Gwynedd at 19:15 BST.

The arrest, described as "significant," followed a joint operation with the Merseyside force.

A statement said the man was wanted in relation to serious offences in Merseyside, West Yorkshire and Spain.

Ch Insp Jeff Moses said: "This is a significant arrest following close working between ourselves and Merseyside Police.

"Due to the nature of the offences and the circumstances, it was necessary to utilise highly-trained armed officers from North Wales Police to effect the arrest."
