Woman dies after river slip near Beddgelert in Gwynedd
A woman has died in an apparent drowning in a river in Gwynedd.
An extensive rescue operation was launched after she was seen to slip into the water at Pont Aberglaslyn near Beddgelert about 11:20 GMT on Tuesday.
But North Wales Police said the body of a woman in her 60s was later recovered downstream and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police, fire and ambulance crews were called along with mountain rescue volunteers.
Insp Gareth Evans said the incident was not being treated as suspicious and the coroner had been informed.
The incident took place in the River Glaslyn.
