Gridlock after fire in M4 Brynglas tunnels at Newport

Help

Motorists have endured a day of disruption on the roads of south Wales, after a lorry fire in the Brynglas Tunnels on the M4 in Newport.

The blaze broke out during Tuesday morning's rush hour, causing severe delays, with people taking hours to drive just a few miles.

The M4 reopened on Tuesday evening with a contraflow through the eastbound Brynglas tunnel, but drivers have been warned they face further rush hour delays as the westbound tunnel could be closed for days.

Nick Palit reports.
