Man dies and woman injured in Tonypandy collision

A man has died and a woman is in a serious condition after a two-car collision in the Rhondda Valley.

It happened on the A4119 road between the Williamstown and Clydach Vale roundabouts, near Tonypandy, at 1820 GMT on Tuesday.

A police family liaison officer is supporting the family of the 40-year-old man who was driving a grey MG ZS.

The 56-year-old woman who was driving a silver Vauxhall Corsa was taken to the Royal Glamorgan Hospital.

There were no passengers in either car.

The accident happened near the traffic lights not far from Parc Gellifaelog. The road was closed for some time.

South Wales Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident or to the movements of either vehicle beforehand.

Witnesses can call the force Roads Policing Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
