A woman has been rescued after she became stuck in mud to her knees while walking along a beach.
Holyhead coastguard called out its Barmouth rescue team when the alert was raised shortly after 1400 GMT.
The woman, said to be elderly, was being helped by two other people when the team arrived and pulled her clear.
She said to be no immediate danger from the tide at Barmouth, Gwynedd. An ambulance crew was informed but was later stood down by coastguards.
Holyhead Coastguard watch assistant Keith Roberts said: "A member of the public rang in to say what was happening.
"She was stuck up to her knees. It looked like she was local. Two people were trying to pull her out.
"She was walking along the beach and had gone into the wrong part, as people do. The tide was quite a way from her."
Mr Roberts said areas of treacherous mud and sand "move around at this time of year" as strong seas hit the shore.
