Cyclist, 15, killed in Dundee road collision named
A 15-year-old cyclist who died after bring struck by a car in Dundee has been named as Cairn Rankine.
The incident happened on Pitkerro Road, about 50m (164ft) from Longhaugh Road, at about 19:15 on Thursday.
Police have issued an appeal for witnesses to the incident, which involved a black Nissan car.
The teenager's family said he was an army cadet who was a much-loved son and brother to two sisters. They said they were "devastated by our sudden loss."
In a statement issued through Police Scotland, the family said: "He was pupil at Morgan Academy in S4 where he had great friends. He was also a Lance Corporal in Army Cadet in the Medics, along with assisting at Stobswell Army Cadets.
"Cairn was also a big football fan."
Insp Greg Burns said: "Our thoughts remains with the family and friends of Cairn during this tragic time.
"Our investigation is ongoing to establish the full circumstances of this incident and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed crash to speak to officers."
