Youth appears in court after boys fall ill in Perth drugs incident

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with drugs offences after four boys became ill in Perth over the weekend.

A 15-year-old boy, from the Perth area, was left seriously ill and three others received hospital treatment following an incident on Friday night.

Police said they may have taken a type of Ecstasy tablet and warned the public about taking "unknown substances".

The arrested teenager, who is from the Perth area, appeared at Perth Sheriff Court on Monday.

Police Scotland said another 15-year-old boy took unwell in Perth on Sunday after consuming unknown substances in an unrelated incident.

His condition is described as serious but stable.

Ch Insp Maggie Pettigrew said: "Our thoughts are with both these young boys who are currently receiving treatment in hospital.

"A 17-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident on Friday and inquiries are continuing in relation to yesterday's incident.

"I would like to stress that both of these incidents are completely unconnected."
