Police hunt raiders after £8,000 garage safe theft

Police are hunting raiders who stole a safe containing £8,000 from a garage in Dundee.

The safe was taken from Mac Motorsport Ltd in Isla Street between 23:00 on Wednesday and 06:00 on Thursday.

Forensics officers carried out an investigation following the theft, which was discovered by a mechanic on Thursday morning.

Garage secretary Shona Finlay said the theft would have a "massive" impact on business.

She said: "There was £8,000 in the safe. We're sitting on no money right now.

"The mechanic went through to the back door to open it and saw all the wood shavings where it had been rammed.

"She came to the office and realised that the safe, which had been bolted to the desk, was gone."
