Police appeal after man badly hurt in Dundee assault

A man has been treated in hospital for serious injuries after being attacked by up to five others in Dundee.

The 42-year-old was assaulted on a footpath at Stannergate, opposite the junction of Dundee Road and Margaret Crescent, last Wednesday evening.

Police said he initially became embroiled in a "verbal altercation" with between three and five men in their twenties at around 21:30.

The man was then assaulted and left seriously hurt.

Police have appealed for information about the incident.
