Dealer Hassan Muwanga sold drugs to Perth students
A Perth drug dealer who sold cannabis to school students has been jailed for 180 days.
A court heard that one 15-year-old pupil turned up at Hassan Muwanga's flat while drug squad officers were raiding the property.
Muwanga was caught with 20 individual wraps, ready to sell to the children in £10 deals.
The 28-year-old, from Perth, admitted being concerned in the supply of cannabis on 1 July this year.
Perth Sheriff Court was told that police received confidential information that Muwanga had been supplying cannabis to a number of school students in the city.
Depute fiscal Stuart Richardson said: "Police searched his home and found a quantity of cannabis.
"The total value was £250, but the problem was it was contained in no fewer than 20 separate snap bags.
"What also complicated matters for him was that as the police were leaving the house a 15-year-old boy turned up.
"He tried to run away but was chased and caught.
"He was taken to his mum's house and gave a statement that he had arrived at the flat to try and buy some cannabis."
Mr Richardson said Muwanga was also caught with £535 in cash.
Solicitor David Holmes, defending, said Muwanga had fled to Scotland after being attacked while living in England and had started smoking cannabis as a painkiller.
He said Muwanga had suffered by missing his son's birthday while had been remanded in custody and that had given him time to reflect on his behaviour.
Sheriff Fiona Tait said: "I am not persuaded, given the nature of the offence, that there is any alternative to custody."
