Woman jailed after playing 'chicken' with passing cars in Stirling

A woman has been jailed for six months after playing a drunken game of "chicken" with passing cars in Stirling.

Roseanne Welsh, 47, was seen dodging cars on Cultenhove Road, as parents and children looked on.

A court heard that she was taken to Stirling police station where she grabbed a glass of water and threw it at arresting officers.

The incident happened at about 15:00 on 19 March.

Prosecutor Adrian Fraser said: "She was seen to be playing chicken and she was shouting and swearing while there were children in the street.

"Police were called and she was arrested.

"It was clear she was drunk."

Welsh, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at Stirling Sheriff Court to using threatening and abusive behaviour, and assaulting police by throwing water at them.

George Pollock, defending, said: "She has long-standing issues with alcohol which are linked to her offending."

Sheriff Wyllie Roberston told Welsh: "You seem incapable of refraining from this kind of conduct."
