Warning after bogus workmen steal money from Dundee home
Bogus workmen claiming to be gas engineers have stolen money from a home in Dundee.
The thieves took a three-figure sum from the house in Tweed Crescent at about 14:00 on Monday.
Police Scotland said similar incidents had previously been reported in the Tayside area.
Officers have warned householders to take precautions, such as setting up a personal password with their utility companies.
A police spokeswoman said: Criminals who commit doorstep crime are very convincing, believable and take advantage of the most vulnerable and trusting people our communities.
"If you have any doubts at all, tell the caller to come back when someone else is home.
"Don't feel embarrassed, genuine callers won't mind rearranging."
