The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information after the burned remains of a snake were found in Falkirk.

A member of the public made the discovery as she walked her dog at The Avenue in Carronshore on Monday.

The SSPCA said the snake had been set alight in a cardboard box on the riverside pathway.

Insp Nicola Liddell said a post mortem would be carried out to establish the cause of death and if the snake was alive when it was set on fire.
