Man assaulted in 'unprovoked' attack in Bonnybridge
A 39-year-old man has been seriously assaulted in an "unprovoked" attack in Bonnybridge, near Falkirk.
The victim had exchanged words with a male suspect on High Street at about 01:00 when a punch was thrown, resulting in him falling to the ground.
It is understood about four other men, who may have been friends of the assailant, then arrived at the scene.
The victim tried to run away but the men pursued and assaulted him on Seabegs Road, near Broomhill Road.
The group then made off, leaving the man lying on the pavement.
Police said a passing driver stopped to offer him assistance. She then took him home, from where he raised the alarm with police.
Det Sgt Colin Moffat, from Stirling CID, said: "Our inquiries into the full set of circumstances are ongoing but needless to say we want to hear from anyone who was in the area of The Toll around the time of these attacks to come forward.
"In particular, we want to hear from the female driver of the white car, who stopped and kindly took this man home."
