Dundee police patrols after house break-ins

Police officers in Dundee have been carrying out high visibility patrols in areas of the city after a spate of break-ins.

There have been a number of thefts from homes in Blackness and Stobswells in recent weeks.

Police said that could be down to an increased number of "high value items" in homes after Christmas.

Officers on the patrols warned homeowners not to leave these goods on display.

PC Catherine McLean said: "Electrical items such as televisions, games consoles, tablet computers and mobile telephones are particularly attractive to thieves.

"Please make sure that, where possible, you do not leave these items on show for opportunist thieves, who may be window shopping."

PC McLean added that homeowners should also be careful when disposing of packaging, should lock all doors and windows and consider fitting an alarm if they did not already have one.
